According to Sports Business Daily, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather is in advanced discussions to enter the world of NASCAR.

The Money Team Racing, a NASCAR team co-owned by Mayweather, is negotiating with Spire Motorsports to form a new partnership that will allow them to enter the sport.

TMT Racing is an idea of longtime NASCAR industry manager Willy Auchmoody. He licensed the TMT brand from Mayweather in recent years and has been working closely with Mayweather’s longtime business manager Brent Johnson.

SBD reports that TMT Racing tried to bid on NASCAR charters that came up for sale this year in order to start running in 2021 - but they were outbid by Spire for Leavine Family Racing and by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin for Germain Racing.

Under the terms of the agreement being discussed, TMT Racing would co-brand one of Spire’s cars in 2021 before using one of Spire’s three charters in 2022 to run its own full-time entry.

Mayweather has several other ventures going. The 43-year-old fighter, who retired back in August of 2017 after stopping UFC star Conor McGregor, is scheduled to enter the ring on February 20th in a pay-per-view exhibition bout with Youtube star Logan Paul.

The retired boxer has been away from the ring since December 2018, when he traveled over to Japan to demolish unbeaten kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in the first round of their exhibition clash.
