Mexican boxer Mauricio 'Bronco' Lara (22-2, 15 KOs) has been training for a month and a half in Oaxaca for his first world title fight, to be held on February 13 in England, where he will face off with the International Boxing Federation featherweight champion, undefeated Josh Warrington (30-0, 7 KOs).

The fighter from the San Felipe de Jesús neighborhood, in Gustavo A. Madero, asserted that his title opportunity is coming at one of the best moments of his career, as well as on a personal level, so the motivation and desire to win the belt for his country is very high.

"I will win the fight with my effort. It is my second international fight, in the first I went to Argentina to win by knocking out in eight rounds. I feel excited and motivated by the birth of my one-month-old daughter Aitana, that is the main motivation and others include my wife Barbara and my parents," Lara told Marca. 

Mauricio acknowledges that Warrington will be a difficult opponent.

"He is the champion, that's something that he is, I take nothing away from him. He does not scare me or anything. We have worked hard. I am in my best moment both personally and on a sporting level. I have noticed that I am growing in my career. I've had tough opponents. The world title fight is a challenge for me and that's why I took it," Lara said.

His father and coach, Gerardo, and also coach Juan Lugo, are in charge of analyzing the fighting style of the world champion.

"I don't like to watch videos of my opponents, but what (my team) has told me is that he hasn't fought with hard-hitting opponents. He is an opponent who throws a lot of punches. Let's see what the outcome will be on the day of the fight. I promise to have a war inside the ring against him," Lara said.

At 22-years-old, Lara explained that the reason for holding his training camp in Oaxaca was strictly to prevent himself and his entire team from coming in contact with the COVID-19 virus.

"We want to arrive in England clean for the fight, without being contaminated [by COVID-19]. This is a quiet area. Also, mentally it does not affect me to fight there. I dedicate the fight to my parents, my wife Barbara, my daughter Aitana," Lara said.
