Rafael Marquez is training for the fight of his life in Mexico. Under the watch of new trainer Daniel Zaragoza, Marquez is preparing for his fourth fight with Israel Vazquez. Marquez stopped Vazquez in their first meeting in 2007. Vazquez came back in their rematch a few months later and stopped Marquez. The third fight was war of wills. It ended with Vazquez winning a very close split decision. A single point gave Vazquez the win in the third meeting.
Marquez wants to get revenge. He promises to make it an all-out war in the ring on May 22 at Staples Center in California.
"[This] will be the mother of all wars. I expect the same kind of fight or even better than the previous three," Marquez told ESTO. "Israel and I climbed into the ring and fought every second of our three fights, and this one will be equal to or better than the others."
The fourth meeting takes place at the featherweight limit of 126-pounds. Marquez is not bothered by the weight. He feels stronger.
"My punch is much more powerful. If I beat Israel, I'm going to look for a fight against Juanma Lopez. I can beat him. I'm looking to get the big fights in two or three years I have left in this game," Marquez said.
