WBO junior welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez (54-6, 39KOs) has begun the sparring stage of his training camp, according to trainer Nacho Beristain. On December 8th, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, he faces Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38KOs) for a fourth time on HBO pay-per-view.
"Juan and I met to outline the roadmap to follow. We agreed that [today] we'll begin the hard work for this fight. [Today] we will start boxing with sparring partners, and do a total of six rounds," Nacho said.
The veteran trainer has already obtained four left handed boxers to spar with Marquez. He expects Marquez to spar a total of 120 rounds before the camp is over, which Nacho says "is more than enough to get him in great condition."
"Ramses Rodriguez and Daniel Santillo, they will put up with Juan's punches for several days. Then two more left handed assistants will arrive to take over their job," Nacho said.
