Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez believes Manny Pacquiao should have postponed his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to the fall.

Last Saturday night, Pacquiao lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Mayweather at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Marquez had fought Pacquiao four times, with their last ending with the Mexican veteran gaining a sixth round knockout victory. Like Pacquiao, he lost a twelve round decision to Mayweather in 2009.

Pacquiao revealed after the contest that he entered the match with an injured right shoulder. He attempted to get an anti-inflammatory shot before the contest, but his request was denied by the Nevada Commission.

Marquez feels Pacquiao made a mistake by entering the fight with an injury.

"They said that it had happened before the fight. If he didn't feel right, he should have canceled it and changed [the fight date] to September. They already had a signed contract, and they could have done better business in September around the national holidays [Mexican Independence Day weekend]," Marquez said to ESPN Deportes.
