After suffering a devasting three-round knockout loss to Mikkel Kessler on Saturday night, and in the process losing his WBC super middleweight title, Markus Beyer feels that the time to retire appears to be now, not later.
At 35-years-old, Beyer stated after the fight that he felt he was too old to start from scratch. While his decision on whether or not he will retire has not been made final, a decision will be made in the next couple of weeks once his head is clear.
“This feels like the end of the world. After such a painful defeat it is no secret that you´re pretty much fed up with everything. I need to think about it when my mind is clear which obviously is not the case right now, ” Beyer said.
