LOS ANGELES, CA – Three division World Champion boxer Abner Mares (@AbnerMares) is nearing his August 29 Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN fight vs. Leo Santa Cruz and is ready to enter the ring.
“I’m hungry for victory, I’m ready to win,” said Mares. The fight for the fans and battle for boxing dominance in Los Angeles will take place at Staples Center and will be broadcast live on ESPN at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST.
“He (Santa Cruz) took the wrong fight,” said Mares during a recent training session. “I’m stronger than ever and if he thinks I’m vulnerable now, he’ll see how wrong he is. I’m strong mentally and physically. This is our fight for dominance in LA.”
A fan-favorite and son of Mexico and Los Angeles, Mares has had one of the most impressive four-fight stretches between 2011-2013 of any boxer in the sport. During that span he won world titles in the bantamweight, super featherweight and featherweight divisions.
Mares is trained by Clemente Medina, Head Coach, Luis Garcia, Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Daniel Valverde and Mike Vital, Assistant Coaches.
Tickets for the event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are priced at $25, $50, $75, $150 and $300, not including applicable fees and service charges, and are on sale at AXS.com or by phone at 888-929-7849 or at STAPLES Center.
