A young fighter trained by the brother of Governor Manny Pinol of North Cotabato, Philippines, is continuing to make a name for himself when he kept his unblemished record intact with style against a veteran foe with winning streaks.

Jundy Maraon, a 5-foot-4 southpaw, earned a well-deserved majority decision win over the veteran Eduardo Apa-ap Saturday in Magpet, North Cotabato.

Two judges scored the exciting bout 77-75 and 78-74 both in favor of Maraon, who improved to unconfirmed record of seven wins (5 knockouts) without a loss and a draw. The third official had it 76-76 even.

It was Apa-ap’s first loss in his last four outings. Apa-ap, a native of Margusan in Compostela Valley came to the fight oozing with confidence after taking three successive wins against veterans Rey Martizano, former Philippine bantamweight champ Julius Tarona and Ronald Postrano, respectively, early this year.

The 21-year old Maraon, trains by Pinol’s brother Noli, is currently rated No. 5 contender of his stablemate, Philippine Boxing Federation bantamweight king Glenn Porras.
