Manuel Alejandro Siaca (20-6, 18KOs) returns to the ring on May 23 after a being inactive since a 2006 decision loss to Silvio Branco. Siaca is co-headlining a card with former flyweight champion Eric Morel (37-2, 19KOs) at the Coliseo Antonio R. Barcelo in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico. Siaca's opponent will be David Whittom (10-6, 6KOs), who in April lost a split-decision to Joey Spina.
Siaca has some big goals in mind. He wants a crack at IBF light heavyweight champion Antonio Tarver and possible shot at the vacant WBA light heavyweight crown. His shining career moment was a major upset of Anthony Mundine in 2004 to capture the WBA super middleweight title. He lost the title in his very first title defense when he was knocked out by Mikkel Kessler.
"When fights fell through against Roy Jones Jr. and Danny Green, I was disappointed. I decided to move away from boxing, to enjoy my children and to do things that I was not able before to do because of all the time I spent training," Siaca. "I'm back with more energy and the desire to be champion again. My mind is clear."
"The fight that really interests me is against Antonio Tarver. Right now the WBA title is vacant. They are going to have Yuri Barashian with Hugo Hernan fight for the title and if I beat Whittom, I will appear again in the rankings and then I can challenge for that title."
