Manny Pacquiao today launched Manny Pacquiao Promotions (MPP) in the United States in a venture designed to reshape “the future of the sport he helped define”.

The 46-year-old Pacquiao, 62-8-3 (39 KOs), returned to the rigors of professional boxing this year and surprised many, after a four-year layoff, when he held WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios to a 12-round draw. Now he steps into a new role.

“It is an honor to bring Manny Pacquiao Promotions to the United States,” stated Pacquiao via the press release. “Some of my most unforgettable moments happened inside American rings. Now, I want to help create those same moments for today’s fighters. Through talent-stacked events and an elite platform, we’ll showcase the rising stars and seasoned warriors ready to capture the world’s attention.”

Pacquiao’s long-time advisor Sean Gibbons will serve as the president of MPP while Tony Cohen is named as the chief financial officer and vice president. Cohen, a Hollywood executive, is spearheading plans to take MPP “into new markets and media platforms”.

“We’re building more than just a promotion,” he said. He is also developing a new pay-per-view platform to “revolutionize the way combat sports content is delivered to global audiences.”

Brendan Gibbons is the matchmaker and, according to the release, has put together “two world title fights and an amazing fight scheduled for November,” according to the release It did not specify further details, however.
