46-year-old Serafim Todorov of Bulgaria was the last man to defeat retired five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.
In the semifinals of the 1996 Olympic games, Todorov (who was 27 years old at the time) won a controversial decision over Mayweather. Todorov walked away from the games with a silver medal (Mayweather got bronze). Prior to the Olympic games, he won three world amateur tournaments.
Todorov went pro in 1998, but he wasnt't very active and retired in 2003. He made his ring return in July of this year in his native Bulgaria, winning a four round unanimous decision over Aleksandar Chukaleiski.
"People saw once again that I am talented. I am able to show much more, but I need a little organization," Todorov said to Medio Tiempo. "I'm starting to find my old form. With each training session I'm better. There is no pressure because I have participated in many international events."
Todorov would love a rematch with Mayweather, who retired in September.
The former Olympian knows the chances of a rematch ever happening is more of a fantasy than actual reality.
"I am a realist and I don't mean to say anything harsh for a fight against Floyd," he explained. "I would need five months in the gym to prepare for something like that. But I promise you this, it would be very interesting inside those ropes if we ever meet again."
