Los Angeles, CA – Undefeated Philadelphia heavyweight Malik Scott takes on Ramon Hayes in the scheduled eight-round main event this Thursday, February 22nd at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, California.
For Scott (26-0, 10 KOs), this will mark his second straight appearance at Tachi. Back in December he posted a unanimous decision win over rugged Andrew Greeley.
Presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions, the Scott-Hayes match up is just one of three exciting heavyweight contests on the Tachi Palace card.
Other heavyweight pairings include Teke Oruh (12-0-1, 6 KOs, Las Vegas, NV) against John Clark (12-8-1, 7 KOs, Los Angeles); and Manuel Quezada (17-4, 12 KOs, Wasco, CA) taking on Jeffrey Brownfield (9-5, 4 KOs, Omaha, NE).
In addition, there will be scheduled 10-round battles for two women’s WBC Interim championships featuring popular Tachi Palace fighters, Jessica Rakoczy and Carino Moreno in separate bouts. Rakoczy (25-2, 10 KOs, Las Vegas, NV) will battle Kellie Cofer (13-4-4, 3 KOs, Willard, OH) for the Interim Lightweight Championship, and Moreno (11-1, 4 KOs, Watsonville, CA) will face Suzannah Warner (7-3, 2 KOs, New York, NY) for the Interim Flyweight Title.
Other local favorites schedule for action include middleweight Frank Mondejar (14-3, 13 KOs, Fresno, CA) and unbeaten junior lightweight Saul Lomas (4-0, 2 KOs).
Former WBA Featherweight Champion Freddie Norwood (40-1-1, 22 KOs, St. Louis, MO) will also don the gloves in an 8-round lightweight bout.
“We’re delighted to be kicking off the 2007 boxing season at Tachi Palace with another full evening of exciting matches,” promoter Dan Goossen said. “The Tachi Palace fans are some of the most enthusiastic boxing fans I’ve ever heard. They get behind the 4 round fights as much as the main event attractions, and especially go wild for their terrific local fighters.
“As always, we have responded to the crowd and brought back some of their favorite fighters, as well as others we feel will be crowd pleasers. It should be another great night of boxing at the beautiful Tachi Palace.”
