BoxingScene.com has been advised that lightweight contender Hank Lundy will face Raymundo Beltran on July 27 in Atlantic City’s Resorts Casino. ESPN2 will televise the bout, which will be for Lundy's NABF 135-pound regional belt.
“I’ve reached a verbal agreement with [Lundy’s promoter] Jimmy Burchfield on the fight,” said Beltran’s manager, Steven Feder.
Lundy (22-1-1, 11 KOs), from Philadelphia, is coming off an impressive points win over Dannie Williams in March that cemented his status on the world stage. Beltran (25-6, 17 KOs), hailing from Phoenix, Ariz., but training out of Hollywood’s Wild Card Boxing Club, has gone 1-2 in his last three, but both losses were competitively fought decisions against a pair of unbeaten fighters, Sharif Bogere and Luis Ramos.
“It’s a huge opportunity for Ray,” Feder added. “One thing about Ray is that he really works well on the inside. I’ve seen him work with Pacquiao for nine camps and go toe-to-toe with Manny. Lundy’s a great fighter, but he’s been down a couple times. Ray’s got a great uppercut to catch him on the chin, but he definitely has to figure a way to get in.”
