26-year-old junior middleweight boxer Deandre "The Bull" Latimore (22-3-0) is one of the top fighters in the division. He dropped a close and somewhat controversial split decision loss to Cory Spinks back in 2009 for the IBF title.
Recently, Latimore was tapped by Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to be one of his sparring partners for his camp against Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17. Incidentally, Latimore grew up and is good friends with Ortiz.
dSource - "How you doing Deandre?"
Deandre Latimore - "I'm alright hanging in there. That's about all."
dSource - "I know you're busy training right now. What you got lined up for your next fight?"
Deandre Latimore - "I'm actually in training camp with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. training for September 17 against Victor Ortiz . That's all on my agenda for now."
"It's been the best experience of my life. It's been the best time of my life. Me and Victor (Ortiz) are cool; that's my boy you know? No hard feelings. It's just business, so I got to take care of mine."
dSource - "Talk about your relationship with Victor. How long have you guys known each other? Tell us more about that."
Deandre Latimore - “Me and Victor have known each other since we were 8. We grew up together fighting in the amateurs. We got a pretty good relationship. It's nothing personal. They called me up to work with Floyd, and it's an opportunity that I can't pass up.”
dSource - "Talk about Floyd. Some are concerned that he might have ring rust, plus the fact that he's not getting any younger."
Deandre Latimore - “There's really no issue with him. He's the best fighter in the world pound for pound by a long shot, and Floyd's going to be Floyd. That's that.”
dSource - "How many times have you sparred with Floyd? How has it been?"
Deandre Latimore - “We sparred a number of times. He's ready to fight and he's ready to go.”
dSource - "I see the list of the top jr. middleweights out there, and I don't see anybody that you ca't beat. What's up with your career now, and who would you want to fight next?"
Deandre Latimore - “I'm just going to leave that up to my promoters for now, and go from there. Right now I'm just focused on helping Floyd get ready for his next fight.”
