Manny Pacquiao and his team are finally moving away from a fifth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Marquez has been mentioned as one of three possibilities to face Pacquiao on April 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The other two candidates being mentioned are Ruslan Provdonikov and WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.
Marquez has rejected a fifth fight with Pacquiao in several published and televised interviews. He knocked Pacquiao out cold in the sixth round of their fourth meeting in December of 2012.
Michael Koncz, adviser to Pacquiao, realized that at this point the 40-year-old Marquez (55-7-1, 40KOs) is going to sit on his knockout victory after being unable to secure an official win in the first three meetings.
“Marquez will never fight us again,” Koncz said to The Los Angeles Times. “Why would he? He has bragging rights and all the money he wants.”
