The gloves row between the Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko camps will be settled by boxing's governing bodies - just 24 hours before the fight.

The challenger is still waiting for a second pair of Paffen gloves - the brand selected by the WBA Super, IBF and WBO title holder - ahead of Saturday's showdown in Dusseldorf, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Fury's trainer and uncle Peter Fury confirmed there has been no problem with one pair they have been sent but made it clear the initial gloves were damaging his nephew's thumb.

At the press conference, Fury's manager Mick Hennessy blamed the German manufacturers, while his counterpart Bernd Boente claims the Fury camp took a full five weeks to register their complaint.

Boente insists Team Klitschko have met their obligations and says it is now down to the governing bodies to make a decision at the rules meeting on Friday - 24 hours before the huge heavyweight showdown.

"The gloves were sent to team Fury and suddenly after five weeks, we were told they are not okay. Then I gave Mick the contact of the company and after a week, he called them - so now we're talking about six weeks, and precious time was lost - now they tell us the changes they want," Boente told Sky Sports News HQ.

"Now they want these changes to the gloves - fine for us - but the problem is the timing is so tight that it's not 100 per cent that they can make it in time. Let's hope [they can].

"The decision is not made by us, it's not our fault. It's their fault because a professional will know after one or two training sessions if the glove is okay or not. Not five weeks.

"And that's it. So the rest will be in the hands of the organisations, the governing bodies. And they will make a decision on Friday. One thing for sure is that there will not be a bare-knuckle fight on Saturday night!"

Boente's assertion Paffen were "hopeful" they would deliver on time irritated Hennessy, who said a fight of such magnitude deserved better.

"What sort of language is that? This is a heavyweight super-fight. We don't want to hear 'hopefully'. You've offered the gloves, why send the gloves if they're not going to be ready.

"You send them, he okays them, guarantee they'll be there fight-night. So, that's the problem we've got. I don't know what's going on. I know any of the top brands could get a selection to us within 24 hours. So what's the problem?

"It has to get sorted. All we want is a fair crack of the whip. We agreed to wear their gloves but they can't be ill-fitting, and cause Tyson an injury the first time he throws a punch. No one wants that.. the fans, the broadcasters, and the fighters and their camps shouldn't want it."

Hennessy brushed aside any fears the rumpus would unsettle his fighter ahead of the biggest fight of his life.

"If anything thinks this is going to rattle Tyson, they don't know him," he added. "He was born for this and will rise to the occasion whatever happens."
