IBF/WBA 140 pound champion Amir Khan faces Lamont Peterson in the American's backyard of Washington D.C. on December 10th in an HBO televised fight.
Assuming that the British fighter gets past Peterson, there has been much speculation that he may become the frontrunner to face WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. some time in 2012. Mayweather has required that his previous two opponents, Shane Mosley and Victor Ortiz, submit to random blood testing for performance enhancing drugs during their training camps.
Mayweather has also said that all of his future opponents will have to submit to the same random blood testing protocol.
Khan told BoxingScene.com that he has no problem agreeing to the blood testing.
"I have no problem taking blood tests," stated Khan. "We are actually (randomly) drug tested in UK. I don't think everyone here (in the U.S.) knows that."
Khan went on to say that he has been randomly tested since his days in the Olympics. The Olympic silver medalist said that if the testing agents come to your house you are required to be tested on the spot.
"If the doorbell goes off then I will go to the door and if they ask for the test I must get tested. I have to get the drug testing if they show up at the door. I've been doing them (the tests) since the Olympic games. I am always clean. If he (Mayweather) says (I need to take a) drug test then fine I have no problem taking it," said Khan.
