British star Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) is feeling the calls from the UK fans, who want him to face IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24KOs).
According to Khan, the fans in American are going rabid to see him face WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) on September 12th.
Mayweather is planning to fight in what he claims will be the final match of his career in September. Khan says the negotiations between the two sides are already underway he feels confident a deal will be reached.
When Khan recently spent some time in America for the Chris Algieri fight, he says everyone in the country was hounding him with questions about Mayweather.
“I’m touching distance away from that mega-fight and everyone wants to see it,” he told Ringside. “Everywhere in America I was going, people were just talking about the Mayweather fight. Even before this Chris Algieri fight.
“So many people were just talking about Mayweather, Mayweather, Mayweather and I was like look: ‘I’m not fighting Mayweather, I’m fighting Chris Algieri'.”
