Keyshawn Davis isn’t your typical prospect. Although he has only a handful of fights under his belt, nine to be exact, he’s making the type of noise that everyone else in the lightweight division is taking notice of.

The former Olympic silver medalist hasn’t only grabbed the attention of fans but also the sanctioning bodies. With a top 15 placement in three of the four bodies, including a ranking of number eight in the WBO, Davis will likely fight for a world title sooner rather than later.

With Devin Haney recently revealing that he’ll give up his undisputed lightweight throne and move up in weight, grabbing a championship trinket just became a bit easier for the 24-year-old. However, he’ll look to accomplish his dreams while navigating around his good friend Shakur Stevenson.

Blood couldn’t make both Stevenson and Davis any closer. The two have spent countless hours training together, have engaged in numerous sparring sessions, and have built the sort of relationship that goes far beyond the squared circle.

Their friendship, nevertheless, could become a bit awkward if their upward trajectory continues. Stevenson, of course, abandoned his WBC and WBO super featherweight titles last year. His hopes, ultimately, were to eventually fight for a 135-pound title. Davis, ironically enough, also has the same ambitions.

All along, Davis has openly stated that he’ll never lace up his gloves and face off against his good friend. Stevenson has said the same. With that in mind, money talks.

The last thing Davis would enjoy doing is swapping fists with Stevenson. In addition to their fondness of one another, Davis, at least to a certain degree, looks up to Stevenson. The reverence he has for his good friend though, could be pushed to the side if the right amount of zeros were placed at the end of both of their paychecks.

“If it’s worth it,” said Davis to Fight Hub TV when asked if he will eventually fight Stevenson. “It definitely gotta be worth it. It gotta be super worth it.”
