During a recent conference call with the media, IBF welterweight champion Kermit "The Killer" Cintron (28-1, 26KOs) made it known that he's willing to fight WBO welterweight champ Paul "The Punisher" Williams (33-0, 24KOs) at any time. Cintron is tired of hearing people say that he's avoiding Williams, and made it clear that he wants the fight and it's Williams who doesn't want any part of it.

"I'll fight Paul Williams any day. Everybody keeps saying I'm avoiding Williams. I'm not avoiding him. I think Paul Williams is avoiding me. I think the fight with Paul Williams; it would be a perfect match for me and a great win for me," Cintron said.  "I've never avoided anybody.  I never backed down, never said no to a fight."

Williams is coming off a title winning decision over Antonio Margarito, the man who knocked Cintron out in five-rounds in 2005. Cintron is coming off an easy two-round destruction of power-punching Walter Matthysse, who last year fought a war with Williams before he was finally stopped in the tenth-round.

Even with the win over Margarito, Cintron was not impressed with the performance of Williams. He feels that Williams is nothing special and has no power in his punches.

"Williams is just another fighter. He's more an amateur than a pro, a fighter that throws a lot of punches but with no power.  It's a fight that I definitely want.  People think I'm avoiding him but I'm not," Cintron said.

Cintron returns to the ring on Sept. 8 against Jesse Feliciano (15-5, 9KOs) on the undercard to Fernando Vargas vs. Ricardo Mayorga at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Williams, who just fought in July, has not set a date for his next fight.
