IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) is not impressed with the record of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs).
Brook moves up by 13-pounds to face Golovkin on September 10th at the O2 Arena in London
Golovkin has knocked out his last 22 opponents and barely lost any rounds as a professional, but Brook is not looking kindly at the level of competition that Golovkin has fought.
While Brook is the smaller man, there are some critics who view him as the best overall fighter to step in the ring with GGG. Whether Brook can beat some of the fighters on Golovkin's record, like Curtis Stevens or David Lemieux is up for debate. One thing is for sure, Brook is confident that he has what it takes to put Golovkin away.
"He’s never fought nobody like me. He’s going to learn real quick in this fight that he’s not in with a welterweight. He’s in there with somebody with venom in his hands. He's going to think twice about marching forward. Everybody he’s fought, I would beat. He’s never fought anybody with my mindset either. I was staring death in the eyes a couple of years ago, so I'm going into this fight smiling," Brook told BoxingScene.com's Declan Taylor.
"He’s just a man with two arms and two legs. Like I said, I'm going to shock the world in this fight. That's why I think it's written in the stars for me in this fight. To fight such a feared man in this fight, everybody is going to be gobsmacked in this fight... when they see me with all of these belts wrapped around me after the fight."
