Never a day will pass when Katie Taylor is not grateful for her adoring fan base or for the opportunity to once again fight on home soil.

There is forever a big part of the undisputed lightweight champion, however, that simply just wants to fight.

That side of the Irish superstar has come to surface ahead of her anticipated rematch versus undefeated and fully unified junior welterweight queen Chantelle Cameron. Their second act takes place this Saturday on DAZN from 3Arena in Dublin, the site of their first fight in May and less than an hour from Taylor’s Bray hometown.

“I feel a lot better this time around. I can’t wait to step in there,” Taylor noted during the final pre-fight press conference Thursday at Dublin Royal Convention Centre. “There’s nothing else really to say. I’m just ready to fight.

“I hate all the talk, I hate all these press conferences. I’m just ready to fight. I’m very, very grateful to have this opportunity.”

The drive and determination of Taylor (22-1, 6KOs) has been evident throughout the buildup and particularly during fight week. An open media workout on Wednesday saw the 2012 Olympic Gold medalist and reigning lightweight champ throw every punch with purpose for a session normally spent shadow boxing and performing camera-friendly mitt drills.

It’s a more intense offering from Taylor than was the case ahead of their first fight on May 20 in Dublin. Taylor fought in her home country for the first time in her storied pro career and spent much of her time in country prior to the fight soaking in all the ambiance and extending herself during every media event.

Fight night proved to be a letdown, as Northampton’s Cameron (18-0, 8KOs) spoiled the homecoming with a brilliant boxing display to claim a well-earned, majority decision victory. Taylor admitted after the fight and throughout the buildup to their repeat meeting that she felt flat that night.

The former WBO junior welterweight titlist and current fully unified 135-pound vowed a return to form this weekend and to join Claressa Shields as the only women to claim undisputed championship status in two weight divisions.

“I understand this is a must win fight for me,” noted Taylor. “It’s going to be a different fight than the last time and I’m excited to show that.”
