Katie Taylor has a provisional date for her homecoming fight.
The undefeated WBA female lightweight champion, 31, made her first defence of the belt in December.
Taylor, who won world honours as an amateur on five occasions as well as six European golds, outpointed America’s Jessica McCaskill via unanimous decision at the famous York Hall venue in Bethnal Green, London.
The show was screened exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK.
The Bray woman is now set for a hero’s welcome later this year, with the plan from her promoter Eddie Hearn always to fight at home in the spring in a bid to unify the division.
And Hearn, it seems, has let the cat out of the bag regarding the details of Taylor’s next outing.
“On April 14, we’re in Dublin,” the Matchroom chief told iFL TV in a recent interview. “We’re just finalising that. It looks like the return of Katie Taylor.”
No venue or opponent was mentioned by Hearn for 8-0 (4 KOs) Taylor, but Boxing Scene understands the fight will take place at the 3 Arena, with the opponent likely to be the IBF champion Victoria Noelia Bustos, who is from Argentina and has a ledger of 18-4 with no stoppages.
Taylor, her team and Hearn have long expressed a desire to face Bustos who was last in action in August when she retained her crown with a points victory over Maria Soledad Capriolo.
Matthew Macklin’s loss to Jorge Sebastian Heiland back in November 2014 was the last fight to happen at the 3 Arena in Dublin and, should the Taylor date go ahead without any hitches, the return of boxing to the venue will come just a week before Carl Frampton’s April 21st featherweight clash with Nonito Donaire in Belfast at the SSE Arena.
