As Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. gets ready for his return to the ring on April 18th against Andrzej Fonfara, he will have a new trainer and it's a familiar face to fight fans.

The Mexican superstar has hired veteran trainer Joe Goossen, who in the past has worked with the likes of the Ruelas brothers, Michael Nunn, Diego Corrales and Joel Casamayor among a multitude of other world class boxers.

The veteran cornerman confirmed the information to BoxingScene.com on Sunday afternoon.

"It is a fact I will be training Chavez Jr. and we just came to an agreement last night. I'm very anxious and very excited to work with him. I've often stated before in a few interviews when people asked me - 'Who would you like to train out there?' - and I said it several times in the past few years that if I had to pick he was at the top of my list," Goossen told BoxingScene.com.

From a stylistic standpoint could be a great fit together. Goossen, prefers to train aggressive, come-forward fighters.

"He's the type of fight where I think our styles could definitely mesh," he agreed.

The big question is of course, is just how willing is Chavez Jr. to comply to the wishes of the hard-driving Goossen? The question will be answered in the next few days and weeks as they begin to work together. And yes, they will be training at the Ten Goose Boxing Gym in Van Nuys.

"Well at this particular time, yes," stated Goossen, who said that they will actually begin their camp on Sunday night with the trainer picking up Chavez Jr. from his home.
