WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0-1, 31KOs) will defend his title on either January 28th or February 4th, on HBO. The television network wants to place Chavez. Jr. on one of the two dates, after the young Mexican star generated a very high television rating for his HBO televised win over Peter Manfredo Jr. on November 19th. Chavez confirms that he might face the winner of the upcoming rematch between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, but that wouldn't happen until at least May.

"[HBO/Top Rank] is thinking about a fight for January 28th or February 4th, but there is still have no opponent or venue. Next week I'm going to return to the gym. I'll [train] for a few days in Mexico City before heading back to Culiacan. I think it would be good [to take a fight] before facing Cotto or Margarito in May," Chavez told Sal Rodriguez.
