Former WBC middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. took to the social networks on Sunday and claimed that his ex, Frida Muñoz Román, had taken off with his daughter Julia, after the two had an argument.

Chavez's famous father, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., responded to his son, on the social networks, and said his granddaughter and her daughter-in-law were OK.

Besides Chavez, Roman has a child with Joaquin 'Shorty' Guzman - the son of drug cartel leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. Joaquin Guzman and his cousin Cesar Guzman were shot and killed by rival cartel members in May of 2008.

'"My ex-wife kidnapped my daughter Julia Chávez, took her out of the United States. For five days I don't know anything about Frida Muñoz Román," wrote Chávez Jr. on his Twitter account. Some of the tweets have since been deleted.

Chavez Sr. responded minutes later: "I want to thank everyone for their concern, but I must inform you that the news from my son is a mistake, his wife and my granddaughter are well."

The boxer spoke with ESPN Deportes and said that spoke with police in California to get assistance with the matter.

"We had an argument and the problem is that my wife has not replied me to let me know about my daughter. I need to know that my daughter is well and I think she took her from the country. I need know about my daughter, it's been five days already that I've been looking for her and I've spoken to the police and tell me that it might be a kidnapping because I've deprived of seeing her."

Chavez Jr. has recently stopped training at Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym, and said it was due to a nuisance with his hand. He said that on Monday would resume training back at the Wild Card.
