The World Boxing Commission will present the U.S. Virgin Islands' own
Julian "The Hawk" Jackson, former WBA Light Middleweight Champion and former WBC Middleweight Champion with a permanent Middleweight Championship Belt in an official ceremony hosted by Governor John P. deJongh, Jr. and Lieutenant Governor Gregory R. Francis on Monday, June 18, 2007.
On hand to make the presentation will be WBC Vice President Lloyd Van Putten joined by several representatives of the Boxing World to include: Joe Cortez and Emile Griffith.
Governor deJongh stated, "This is an extremely important and proud occasion for Mr. Jackson and the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands because during the course of his active boxing career, he was never permanently issued his WBC Belt. This is not only national and international media event, but a historical event that will add yet another chapter to the legacy of Julian's illustrious career and as world-renown Champion Boxing."
