It appears that a gym brawl erupted last week between the Judah clan and undefeated middleweight prospect "Mean" Joe Greene (16-0, 12KOs).
Greene, who was doing some last minute sparring at Brooklyn's Gleason's Gym, for the Aug. 8 bout with Darryl Salmon, was in the ring with either young amateur Joseph Judah or unbeaten super middleweight Josiah Judah (8-0, 2KOs) when the incident broke out.
There have been conflicting reports as to which of the two Judah brothers was in the ring with Greene, but several Gleason's regulars told BoxingScene.com that Greene was sparring with both of them that day.
Apparently, Greene scored a knockdown during the sparring session. One trainer, who was not present during the incident, said that he was almost positive that it was unbeaten Josiah who was dropped. The knockdown prompted some words to get exchanged and older sibling, cruiserweight Daniel Judah (21-2, 10KOs), to jump in the ring and start hitting Greene with ungloved fists. The ruckus was quickly broken up by staffers and indviduals training alike.
Both Zab and Yoel Judah were present, but reports have said that neither were involved in the altercation with Greene. Because of the incident, Daniel Judah was barred from using the Gleason's facilities as he was the reported instigator by several eyewitnesses.
