Juanmita Lopez De Jesus won a six-round unanimous decision over Conner Goade in the co-feature on Saturday’s Xander Zayas-Abass Baraou fight card at Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The three scores were 60-53.

De Jesus, a 2024 Puerto Rican Olympian and now a junior bantamweight pro from Caguas, Puerto Rico, is the son of Juan Manuel Lopez – a 2004 Olympian and former two-division titleholder as a professional.

De Jesus started slow, and Goade lost a point in the second round for an elbow that landed. De Jesus began heating up with a big third round, landing several good body shots. In the fourth, he continued to target Goade’s body.

De Jesus aims to follow in his father’s footsteps as a Puerto Rican boxing star, and made good progress defeating a tough veteran, who came to fight, in front of his hometown crowd.

With the win, De Jesus is now 5-0 (2 KOs), while the 25-year-old Goade fell to 8-5-2 (7 KOs).

Junior lightweight Carlos De Leon Castro, of Cupey, Puerto Rico, recorded a sixth-round technical knockout over veteran journeyman Diuhl Olguin, of Guadalajara, Mexico. The time of the stoppage was 1 minute and 31 seconds.

The 37-year-old Olguin proved a tricky opponent for the 20-year-old Castro. Castro dominated each round but finally got the stoppage, which came when Castro landed a series of punches that Olguin didn’t answer.

Castro, on a five-fight knockout streak, is now 7-0 (6 KOs), while Olguin is 17-48-7 (10 KOs).

Middleweight Euri Cedeno, of La Romana, Dominican Republic, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Etoundi Michel William, of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The three scores were 100-88.

A short left uppercut dropped William in Round 1. That same shot dropped William again later in the same round. In the fifth, William, 32, landed some thudding blows that moved the 2020 Olympian Cedeno back and showed William still had life. But Cedeno overwhelmed William in the second half of the fight, even as William showed plenty of toughness.

Cedeno improved to 14-0-1 (12 KOs), while William dropped to 16-3 (12 KOs).

Giovani Santillan, of San Diego, California, made his junior middleweight debut in the card’s opening bout, winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Courtney Pennington, of Brooklyn, New York.

Scores were 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94.

Santillan, 34, improved to 35-1 (18 KOs), and has won three fights in a row since being stopped by Brian Norman Jnr.

Pennington, 39, fell to 17-12-3 (7 KOs).

Junior bantamweight Yadriel Caban, of Isabela, Puerto Rico, knocked out Jeremis Hernandez-Torres of Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. The time of the stoppage was 1 minute and 46 seconds.

Caban landed a right hand that sent the 22-year-old Hernandez-Torres to the canvas in the opening round. Caban, 19, landed a left hook to the body of Hernandez-Torres, who went down in pain and was counted out.

Caban is now 3-0 (3 KOs), and Hernandez-Torres fell to 2-3.
