Juan Manuel Marquez (49-4-1, 36 KOs) is not done chasing Manny Pacquiao just yet. The Mexican champion believes that a win over Juan Diaz on February 28 will lead to a trilogy bout with Pacquiao. The HBO televised bout against Diaz will take place in the Baby Bull's hometown of Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center.
Marquez and Pacquiao fought to a draw in 2004. Pacquiao won a close split decision over Marquez in March 2008. While not disclosing why, he says Pacquiao wants no part of a trilogy bout. Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, told reporters that a trilogy would have to take place at 140-pounds, where Manny will now campaign. He says that sooner or later, Pacquiao will be forced to meet him in the ring.
"That's the intention. Right now, I'm just concentrating on Juan Diaz 100 percent. There is a reason he (Pacquiao) doesn't want to fight me again. But that's the fight I've wanted, I've made no secret of it," Marquez said.
