LIVERPOOL, England — Juan Carlos Martinez Urbina believes experience will play a factor when he takes on Jack Turner this Saturday at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.
The traveling Nicaraguan has a tough task this weekend against the hard-hitting Turner. The 13-0 (12 KOs) Turner has breezed through his opposition as a professional, but Urbina is not worried.
“He has the name that he's a very good boxer and he hits very hard, Urbina, 10-3-1 (4 KOs), told BoxingScene through a translator. “I've seen some of his fights and he's very strong, but I also have my own. I'm very prepared, physically and mentally.”
Urbina’s and Turner’s records may look similar in terms of fights, but the Nicaraguan believes he has faced tougher opposition.
“I do think that I have more experience than him,” Urbina said. “He hasn't fought with the fighters that I've fought with, so I do think I've got a little bit of advantage against him.”
The highly-ranked Turner is pushing towards a shot at a junior bantamweight championship, but Urbina has ambitions of his own.
“My ambition is to become a world champion,” he said. “I think this is a really good opportunity for me to demonstrate what I'm made out of and to get a step ahead into my career.”
