There was little to separate Nick Ball and the mandatory challenger for his WBA featherweight title in Liverpool on the scales as they both came in inside the limit for their contest.

While they might be close in weight, they are not in height. Far from it. Ball is a 5ft 2ins grenade and Figueroa is 5ft 9ins hence the name of the show – A Tall Order.

The champion boasts a 23-0-1 (13 KOs) record with notable wins over Isaac Dogboe, Raymond Ford, Ronny Rios, TJ Doheny and Sam Goodman. Many felt he should have added the WBC title of Rey Vargas to his collection, but they drew in 2024.

Ball is boxing in front of his own fans, with the hopes of many undercard fighters that the Ball business booms for sometime yet. Figueroa is, of course, a long way from home, which is Welasco, Texas.

“This is the best version of Brandon you’re going to see; I’m coming with everything and I plan on leaving it all in the ring. I’m ready,” said Figueroa.

“It’s nothing new to me, it’s where I’m most comfortable,” said Ball. “It’s going to be an exciting one, that’s for sure.”
