BoxingScene.com has been advised that super featherweight contender Jose Pedraza (19-0, 12KOs) of Puerto Rico has signed on with powerful manager/adviser Al Haymon.
Pedraza, one of the rising stars of the lightweight division, is in line for a shot at IBF super featherweight Rances Barthelemy of Cuba - who is also guided by Haymon. Pedraza won an IBF title eliminator last month with a dominating decision win over Michael Farenas. Pedraza previously held the IBO's title at 130-pounds.
Haymon has been on a signing spree all year and some estimate that at least 140 fighters are now signed to his stable - with Floyd Mayweather Jr. being his biggest client. Among his fighters to see action this weekend include Amir Khan, Devon Alexander, Erislandy Lara, Victor Ortiz, Errol Spence, Abner Mares, Beibut Shumenov, Keith Thurman, Leonard Bundu and several others.
Pedraza is promoted by a trio of veterans - Gary Shaw, Lou DiBella and Javier Bustillo. There are heavy rumors that Shaw's company is about to be purchased by Roc Nation Sports, but from what BoxingScene understands Pedraza is part of that potential acquisition.
