Junior lightweight Jon Fernandez bounced back from his first defeat as a pro, stopping Michel Marcano Saturday night at the Pabellon Municipal Lydia Valentin in Ponferrada, Spain.
Fernandez battered Marcano throughout the bout, hurting him with left hooks to the body or right crosses to the head.
Marcano (17-2-1, 14 knockouts), who resides in Barcelona, Spain, remained on his stool after the third round. He has now lost his last two bouts.
Fernandez improves to 17-1, 15 KOs. In his last bout on Sept. 21, Fernandez lost a 10-round unanimous decision to O’Shaquie Foster in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
The 23-year-old Fernandez, who resides in Bilbao, is co-promoted by Lou DiBella and former world titleholder Sergio Martinez.
“I would like to fight again in the first couple of months of 2019, if possible,” said Fernandez after the fight.
Also on the Bierzo Box card, light heavyweight Oscar Ahlin (16-2, 14 KOs) of Sweden stopped veteran Ionut Tradnafir Ilie (17-30-3, 3 KOs) of France in the third round.
