The Miami Herald reports that the camp of light heavyweight Glen Johnson is going to file a petition over the recent split-decision loss to IBF champion Clinton Woods in Bolton, England.

The fight was close and the scores reflected as such, judge Mickey Vann scored the fight for Johnson 115-113, Roberto Ramirez had it 116-112 for Woods and Ric Bays had Woods up 115-113.

Warriors Boxing, the promoters of Johnson, told the paper that Woods should have been disqualified after one of his cornermen stood on the canvas near the fighter's corner in the 11th round. Warriors wants the decision reversed and Johnson listed as the winner, or at the very least an immediate rematch should be ordered.

"This is a direct violation of the IBF rules and regulations as it relates to members of any fighter's corner stepping foot on the ring apron during the action," Leon Margules of Warrios said in a statement. "The fighter should have been immediately disqualified. We intend on filing a protest regarding the outcome and demand Glen Johnson crowned the victor in this contest or they should order an immediate rematch."
