JAKARTA, Indonesia -- Indonesia's Yohannes Christian John kept his WBA featherweight title Saturday with a unanimous decision over Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez, who was penalized for low blows.

Marquez was warned four times by referee Guilermo Perez Pineda, who ordered points deducted in the 10th and 11th rounds of the 12-round fight held in a parking lot in Tenggarong in East Kalimantan province. The judges scored the bout 116-110, 117-111, 116-112.

The victory extended John's record to 37-0-1 with 20 knockouts. Marquez fell to 44-3-1 with 33 knockouts.

John, also a champion in the Chinese martial art of Wu-Shu, previously defended his title in April against Derrick Gainer of the United States. John became Indonesia's third boxing world champion by defeating Oscar Leon of Colombia in December 2003 in Bali.
