Lightweight John Murray (31-0, 18KOs) is willing to face his domestic rival Kevin Mitchell (31-1, 23KOs) in his next ring appearance. On Saturday at York Hall in London, Murray had a tough time winning a decision over Karim El Ouazohari. Mitchell was at ringside looking on. Initially, Mitchell was going to be the opponent on Saturday but there was an issue over money and El Ouazohari was brought in.
Murray returned for the first time in over six months. Mitchell has not fought since being knocked out by Michael Katsidis last May.
Murray told The Telegraph: “It wasn’t my best fight, it was like having my debut again. I have cleaned up at domestic and European level and I am looking at moving on, but if there is a fight there with Kevin Mitchell on the way to that, then so be it.”
