Heavyweight newcomer Joe Joyce (1-0) will be an interested observant of the March 3rd showdown between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and his unbeaten challenger Luis "King Kong" Ortiz.  The fight takes place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and will be televised in the United States by Showtime.

The 32-year-old Joyce, who won the silver medal at the 2016 Olympics games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, believes that Ortiz will prove to be a difficult challenge for Wilder.

"King Kong is dangerous. It should be a good fight. Ortiz is skillful. He is Cuban. He's got the skills and he's got the power but I think Wilder is a bit more quicker and more agile than him," explained Joyce.

"They both got knockout power and it only takes one shot so it should be an interesting and entertaining fight."

The London, United Kingdom native believes part of what makes Wilder a dangerous opponent is how unorthodox he is. The American is very tall and fast and doesn't have textbook technique.  Joyce feels that is one of the reasons why Wilder is still undefeated after 38 career fights.

"He is wild by name and wild by nature. He is unpredictable. Sometimes you are in a fight and a guy is throwing unorthodox shots in a pattern you aren't used to and sometimes you get hit by a mad shot that you aren't expecting. That is why with Wilder - and he is quick as well so one punch you don't see - it can knock you out," Joyce told BoxingScene.com.

One of the biggest fights that can be made in the sport is Wilder against WBA/IBF/IBO champion Anthony Joshua. On March 31st Joshua will face Joseph Parker for his WBO title. 

If Joshua gets past Parker and Wilder gets past Oritz, a Joshua-Wilder fight would produce an undisputed heavyweight champion.

If and when that fight happens, Joyce, who has sparred Joshua for several years, believes that both men are more than capable of winning the fight.

"I think if AJ keeps his guard up and blocks Wilder's shots and lands a combination of his own heavy punches it could be trouble for Wilder and also if Wilder gets through with some of those bombs he throws on AJ's chin. They are both heavy punchers. It would be a good fight to watch," Joyce opined.
