BoxingScene.com has been advised that IBF super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas (32-1-2) will return to the ring on April 11th against Jonathan Javier Rodriguez (21-1) of Mexico. The fight will take place at the Cosmopolitan Resort & Casino in Las Vegas and will be broadcast on an ESPN platform.
The 28-year-old Filipino won his title in 2016 and has made 8 successful defenses. He last fought in December when he stopped Miguel Gonzalez in 6 rounds in Mexico.
Featherweight prospect Adam Lopez (13-2) has advised BoxingScene.com that he will also appear on the show. His last fight took place at the same venue in November when he lost to former featherweight champion Oscar Valdez.
Lopez was originally slated to face Luis Coria (12-2) but after Valdez's original opponent, Andres Gutierrez, missed weight by a whopping 11 pounds a deal was made for Gutierrez to move up in weight and into the main event. Lopez dropped Valdez in the 2nd round and boxed well before being stopped in the 7th round. Coria is once again scheduled to be his opponent.
