26-year-old undefeated featherweight contender Jayson Velez (22-0-1) is planning in having a big year in 2015. The Puerto Rico native last fought in November, when he battled IBF featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich to a split draw.

The featherweight division is full of talent and another attractive fight for Velez could be against WBC champion Jhonny Gonzalez.

"Jhonny is a good fighter but he doesn't apply pressure like Gradovich. It would be a great fight but it's just a different kind of fight," Velez stated.

When asked for his assessment of WBA champion Nicholas Walter's knockout victory over Nonito Donaire, Velez said he was very impressed.

"Walters looked great in they fight. He looked very strong. I think he is the best featherweight right now."

To that I asked him if he feels Walters is better than WBO champion Vasyl Lomachenko.

"Yes, I think so. I think he is the best,"  Velez told BoxingScene.com.
