At the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre in Nottingham, super bantameweight Jason Booth (35-5, 15KOs) stopped Matthew Marsh (13-2, 1KOs) in eleven rounds to win the Commonwealth title. Booth was said to have been behind on the cards at the time of the stoppage.
Marsh got off to a fast start and used an accurate body attack to trouble Booth in the early rounds. A clash of heads in the second would cause a cut on Booth. During the fifth round, a right hand sent Booth down for the only knockdown of the fight. There were more head clash as the contest wore on. One of those clashes opened up a small cut above the right eye of Marsh.
Booth began to take over the fight in the late rounds. He shook Marsh up in the ninth and continued his attack. The cut near Marsh's eye grew a lot bigger as punches were landing. In the eleventh, the doctor felt the cut was too severe to allow the fight to continue and he stopped the contest.
