Marco Huck (34-1, 25 KOs), the WBO's cruiserweight champion, wants to make German boxing history by becoming the first champion in the country since the legendary Max Schmeling. Huck is going to challenge WBA "regular" champion heavyweight Alexander Povetkin (23-0, 16 KOs) on February 25 in Stuttgart, Germany. The move by Huck has been questioned by many, but the German boxer saw his manuever as the most logical step.

"I'll be the first German world champion since Max Schmeling. People ask me why I decided to take such a risky step [by going to heavyweight]. Look, I practically dominated the cruiserweight division and there really weren't a lot of challenges left for me. It seems to me that moving to the heavyweight division was the most reasonable move," Huck said.
