According to former undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, former two-division king David Haye (27-2, 25KOs) currently has too much for IBF heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua (16-0, 16KOs).
Joshua captured the title in April with a two round knockout of previously unbeaten Charles Martin. He makes the first defense of that belt on June 25th against Dominic Breazeale at the 02 Arena in London.
Haye, 35-years-old, finally returned to the ring in January with an easy knockout of Mark De Mori. He goes again on May 21 against unbeaten Arnold Gjergjaj.
If Haye is victorious on next weekend, he is then set to fight former WBO heavyweight world champion Shannon Briggs who returns on Haye's undercard. Briggs' opponent on the card is unknown after Alexader Dimitrenko denied reports of being involved in the fight.
Holyfield views Joshua as one of the best fighters out there in the heavyweight division, but believes he is not yet ready for a contest against an opponent like Haye.
"Listen, I think Joshua may be one of the best big guys out there. It's not just his power, I'm talking about him being one of the guys who can stay there the longest and make adjustment," Holyfield told BoxingScene.com's Declan Taylor in a video interview.
"He hasn't had to make any adjustments yet but his fighting style is that he can box. As you can see he can hit too. But Haye - I think he's a complete fighter and I think by him being a bit older, a little bit more mature, I think that's going to make the difference. That experience can make the difference now. The thing is that the experience that David Haye has, Joshua doesn't."
