During the Super Six Summit in New York City, British promoter Mick Hennessy told reporters that his fighter, WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch, will be ready for the challenge of Mikkel Kessler and the challenge of Arthur Abraham. Froch will defend his title against Kessler on April. Kessler lost an upset decision in the first stage of the Super Six when he was dominated by Andre Ward. Hennessy says Froch will not underestimate Kessler. They expect a more dangerous Kessler.
"Carl's the consummate professional and he knows Kessler is never going to be more dangerous in his whole career than he will be in their fight in Herning," said Hennessy.
"(Kessler's) lost everything and if he loses this fight his career's at stake and he's out of the Super Six. So we're expecting the very best Kessler that there's ever been. A hungry Kessler, not the one who's been champion for many years."
The third stage of the Super Six will see Froch take on Arthur Abraham. Last Saturday Abraham was upset in his second bout of the Super Six when he was disqualified in the eleventh round of his fight with Andre Dirrell. They plan to take the same approach with Abraham as they are currently doing with Kessler.
"It's the same with Arthur Abraham, being on the end of his first defeat," added Hennessy. "Boxing-wise he was way behind and the thing about these fighters, they've got warrior mentalities and when something like that happens, if you underestimate them you've got to be crackers. They'll be coming back better and stronger."
