Promoter Barry Hearn of Matchroom Sport is not too confident of Amir Khan (30-3, 19KOs) securing a 2015 fight with WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs).
Hearn is shaking his head at some of the recent press statements made by Khan in the UK. He feels the Bolton star is getting too ahead of himself. Of course, Hearn wants to get his fighter, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook, in the ring with Khan.
Matchroom has Wembley Stadium on hold for June 13, hoping to make a big fight between Khan and Brook at the venue. Brook is going to make the first defense of his title in March - potentially against mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan.
"Amir Khan is in a bit of an ego-delusional state at the moment - thinking that he's the second coming of welterweights, when - as I say - he's got three losses and you can't take them away from your record . He's a good fighter, he's getting better. He can't punch but he's quick. His new trainer has done a good job in protecting his chin. I'm really impressed," Hearn told Seconds Out.
