Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport says he is baffled as to why Amir Khan will not accept a fight with domestic rival Kell Brook, who holds the IBF's welterweight title. Brook demolished mandatory challenger Jo Jo Dan in four rounds on Saturday night in Sheffield. After the fight was over, Brook and Hearn challenged Khan to fight on June 13th in Wembley.

Hearn is alarmed to hear reports that Khan is potentially going to face former 140-pound champion Chris Algieri on May 30th in the United States. Algieri is coming off a one-sided beating at the hands of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, who scored six knockdowns in the contest.

"There have been talks and they tell me it will happen. He hasn't got a fight for May, June. Fight Kell Brook. Its the biggest fight out there for him, financially. And there is a world title attached. I know he wants to fight Floyd and Manny, but imagine Amir Khan with a world title attached - he would be unavoidable. And now he can fight Kell Brook for a world title. The fact is he doesn't want to. I don't know the reasons for that, you'd have to interview him. I don't understand why," Hearn told BoxingScene.com/Be Real Boxing.

"If you think you can win, and there is all that money to be made and there is a massive fight for Britain - why not just take the fight. They are talking about him fighting Algieri now in May. That is a big letdown. Everybody knows how much we want that fight but what can we do."
