A few days ago, Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum trashed the current lineup of boxing content being presented on HBO - and he especially took aim at the head of HBO Sports, Peter Nelson.

Arum's fire has been triggered by HBO's decision to counter-program his upcoming event on December 9th in New York City - which features an ESPN televised dream fight between Vasyl Lomachenko and Guillermo Rigondeaux.

On that same night, in Las Vegas, HBO will present a televised tripleheader with Mexican warrior Orlando Salido battling countryman Miguel Roman in the main event.

One of the cards Arum trashed is Saturday's tripleheader on HBO, which is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Sergey Kovalev and Vyachelsav Shabranskyy - with the vacant WBO title at stake.

Earlier this year, Arum's company parted ways with HBO and signed an exclusive multi-year deal with ESPN.

Nelson believes the card will be a homerun, and says every fighter on the televised - and the involved promoters - deserve to be showcased on the network.

"We have all-action fights on HBO," Nelson said.

"It is important to work with people who want to put the fights together that the fighters want. They have to be willing to work with anybody, anywhere and the fighters we want on the network are the ones who want to fight anyone, anytime and anywhere.

"As I can attest with all these fighters [on the card], I have never had that problem with any of them. They have never turned down a fight. Those are the kind of fighters people want to watch. Those are the kind of fighters that make the fights people want to see. And those are the kind of fights that lead to bigger and better things for each of the fighters involved."

Nelson also praised Kathy Duva of Main Events for working with several promoters to put this card together.

"We always know we can rely on Main Events to, not only deliver us a great show, but also on the undercard, off HBO, Kathy is giving us a glimpse into the future," Nelson said.

"The light heavyweight division, as Kathy said, is a stacked division. Two great fights there. Maybe we see the winners meet up down the road. We see some others fighters who are in great position to try and take dominance over an open division right now and have a world title fight like Sergey vs. Shabranskyy."
