Adam Booth, the manager/trainer of former two division champion David Haye, has confirmed receipt of a contract to face WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko on March 3 in Dusseldorf, Germany. After losing a twelve round decision to younger brother Wladimir Klitschko in July, Haye retired from boxing in the month of October, but promised to return if Vitali came around with a proper fight offer.
Booth told The Sun: "We have received a contract to fight Vitali Klitschko and our lawyers are looking at the details of what has been offered."
Klitschko's manager, Bernd Boente, is giving Haye a small window of time to reach a decision. By December 17th, either Haye accepts the offer or Boente will announce another opponent for Vitali.
"In the last few days we have continued negotiations and we officially sent the contract to the offices of the Haye camp. It’s on their side – we now wait to see what their response will be, and how they comment on this. Either they accept it, or Vitali fights someone else, because we cannot wait around for Haye. We are also looking at other opponents," Boente told Telegraph Sport.
