Former two division beltholder David Haye would rather see Tyson Fury remain as the world champion than Wladimir Klitschko reclaim his lost titles in the upcoming rematch, which has yet to be scheduled.
Fury was able to outbox Klitschko last November in the biggest upset of 2015. The victory gave him the WBO/WBA/IBF/WBO world titles. Fury has since been stripped of the IBF crown. A rematch will take place later this year.
Haye has always been critical of Klitschko, who beat the British fighter by a wide decision in 2011. He was never impressed with Klitschko style of fighting and felt his personality downgraded the entire division.
"It was simply time for a change. Wladimir Klitschko is so incredibly boring. Tyson Fury may be an idiot, but he's entertaining. He sings in the ring. And he dressed up at the press conference as Batman and running around like a madman. That's funny," Haye said.
Fury is the complete opposite of Klitschko. He makes all sorts of controversial comments and following his big win, some of his quotes about women and homosexuals went viral all over the world.
"When he says things, for example about women in the kitchen or on their back, it makes me shake my head. But he will attract attention in heavyweight boxing. More people talk about it, more people get interested. Boxing is a theater. And it takes personalities who polarize. That is why Tyson Fury to me as world champion is a thousand times better than Wladimir Klitschko," Haye said.
Haye was scheduled to face Fury on two occasions, but withdrew with injuries. Fury is still very upset over the withdrawals and promised to never give Haye a shot at the titles in the future.
