Manchester legend Ricky Hatton is staying neutral in the ongoing war of word between domestic rivals Amir Khan and Kell Brook.

Brook (34-0, 25KOs) has been trying to get Khan in the ring for quite a while. Khan (31--3, 19KOs) on the other hand has a goal of his own - landing Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Khan has been unsuccessful in his attempts to get Mayweather and has now turned his attention to former sparring-mate Mayweather Pacquiao.

If Khan is unable to get Pacquiao in the first half of 2016, Hatton would advise him to go for the biggest financial opportunity possible - fighting Brook for the IBF welterweight crown.

Hatton feels confident that a Khan-Brook collision would draw 80,000 fans at Wembley - in the same manner as the Carl Froch vs. George Groves rematch in May of 2014.

“If Khan doesn’t get Mayweather, I think the biggest fight out there is Kell Brook. We could have a trilogy of huge domestic rivalries," Hatton told Express and Star. “If Carl Froch and George Groves can get 80,000 people to Wembley, don’t tell me Brook versus Khan can’t do the same, every day of the week.

“If there’s no superstars in America you can go for, it makes sense. And Brook versus Khan wouldn’t be a boring fight. If it is a barnstormer, there’s there will be a rematch. It could be Benn and Eubank all over again. Those two didn’t need anyone else, they made each other. If Khan can’t get Mayweather or Pacquiao, that’s the route I would go. There’s where the money would be for him and that’s where he could really make his name again, in my opinion.”
